Going back…

So, it is no surprise that I am a seriously nostalgic person. I love to reminisce about the past and sometimes get a bit teary eyed when doing this. I have a pretty good memory, so it is not hard for me to recall things from the past.

I can remember as far back as when I was 3 years old begging my mom and dad for a Wonder Woman Barbie doll!

I remember being 3, almost 4, and living in North Carolina for a few months while my dad was on temporary assignment with his work.

Being 5 years old and swinging with my new friend on the swing’s during recess in Kindergarten (by the way… this person also happens to be Firewife!!!). Yep… we have known each other for that long!

So, last night, I was hit with a feeling of nervous anticipation when I went back to my old High School for my niece’s Kindergarten graduation. When I walked in the doors of that building, it was as if no time had passed. Everything was (almost) all the same. There were a few changes made, but for the most part… the same. The changes were small, but noticeable, all the same.

These halls hold a lot of memories for me and my friends… we walked these halls and ran these halls for so long that we never thought that we would get out… and once we did, just like everyone said, there are days I truly wish I could get that time back. Pause it. And just… soak it in.

I guess I am kind of writing this for those kids that are graduating this year, who are probably just itching to grow up, and what I would say to them is… take your time. Being a grown up is not all it is cracked up to be. There are more and more days lately that I wish I were back in my old bedroom at my parents house, sleeping in  my big old waterbed(yes!… I had a waterbed!!!), and having sleepover’s with my friends.

Now, don’t get me wrong… I love my life(most days). And I love my family(all days!!!). But, to be able to go back, and relive some of it, and maybe do a few things different… I would.

So in closing… (does this sound like a commencement address? Ha ha!)… I will leave you with this… a few pics from my nieces kindergarten graduation! Smile Have a great day!
