365: Up to date!… and other stuff

Just wanted to let everyone know, if you haven’t caught it yet, I have started a new 365 starting with May 1st. With the computer problems, and my lack of motivation and some issues that I have been dealing with in my marriage, I just couldn’t keep up. However… I am now up today and going to try to keep it there.

Ladies… I am thinking about starting a new blog that is completely separate from this that is dealing with my weight issues and some other personal stuff. Can anyone give me advice on how to just… put it all out there. Doug and I have been seeing a counselor(yes… a marriage counselor) and I still feel like I am just holding back on things. I can’t seem to get a grip on things right now. My weight is going in the complete opposite direction and I just don’t know what to do. I want to go to the gym, but I feel like the planning and organizing of getting there is just not worth it. ARGH!

Can anyone help me? I sure can’t help myself!!!

COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

Love,

C

Don't feel like you have to share every little detail. I'm a firm believer that issues in a marriage should stay be between a couple (and a counselor or pastor if needed). I like to blog genuinely but there are things going on in my life right now that people just don't need to know about. That's just my two cents. Hope things get better!

I struggle with putting it 'all out there' as well, I just prefer to focus on the positive most of the time. I think the key is probably not thinking or worrying about what others think of you...easier said than done. :)

But I also have to add that I agree with the first comment that some things should remain private. If you need to journal about some of these issues and get insight from others maybe blogging anonymously might work??

Hope you get the answers you are looking for. Take care!

As far as putting it all out there: you have to just do it. It's scary, depending on what you're saying, but there's no way to get over that other than to do it.
TOTALLY agree with Steph though - there are some things that should be kept private.
Like Candace mentioned, I've thought about starting a more anonymous blog so that I can put more detail out there, but I decided that's not for me. So while I don't mind putting things out there that are pretty much just about me, I limit the detail I provide about issues in my marriage.

I'm like Candace, I've always preferred to focus on the positive on my blog, and every time I sat down and poured out my heart about something, I always ended up deleting it rather than sharing it. I've been trying to change that with my new blog, because truthfully my life isn't all perfect happiness, there are struggles and pain. There's something to be said for being genuine, even on the "interwebs". ;)

I also agree that there are some things that need to stay private. I've seen blogs where the writers were as open and honest as they could be about their struggles, and they got some godly & excellent advice, prayers, and support from their readers. But I've also seen situations where someone was TOO open about something, and it came back and bit them.

I guess my advice is to share what you feel comfortable sharing, but temper it with wisdom and also respect for your husband's (and yours) privacy.

Candace,

My blog has always been about sharing my girls with family and friends and those that might want to catch up on our lives. As far as the weight man I know i struggle myself with those... I find sharing that sometimes helps because sometimes we just need someone to talk with. You have 2 small children you are home with them all the time and I remember those days when I just felt like I was so alone... Blogging does help but there is also things that should be kept private..... Email me anytime...

if you wanted to you could make it a private blog to where only certain people see it or really no one at all if you wanted to. Then you could write anything you wanted whenever you wanted with no holding back.
Just a thought!
Love ya!

I agree with what others said....starting with a private blog for all of those things might be the way to go....I suspect you can always change it from private if you wanted later on...it would give you a chance to start writing things out, but still give you time to consider how much you want to share with the web world!....

I hear you on the struggles......
